The standard specification that sets the benchmark for paint protection. It leaves the original paint colour and gloss exactly as they are while keeping out stone chips and wash swirls. Fine surface scratches respond to the heat of sunlight or warm water and disappear on their own.
The flagship line, with the protective layer taken one step thicker. The thicker the TPU layer, the more widely it distributes impact energy, an advantage on vehicles that see frequent high-speed driving or heavy stone-chip exposure.
Turns gloss paint into a velvet matte finish while protection performance stays exactly the same. Unlike matte wrap vinyl it carries a self-healing topcoat, which takes most of the maintenance burden out of living with a matte finish.
A colour PPF that changes the colour and protects at the same time. Unlike wrap vinyl, which is little more than an adhesive film, it keeps the full self-healing protective layer, so you can change to the colour you want with the paint untouched underneath, and go back to original whenever you choose.
Self-healing is a property of the topcoat, the film's outermost layer. It is made of elastic polyurethane, an elastomer that remembers its original smooth shape. When wash swirls or light scratches press into the surface, heat from sunlight, engine warmth or warm water gives the polymer chains freedom to move again, and they settle back into their original alignment. The mark disappears. That same topcoat also handles water beading and stain resistance: healing and soil resistance are not separate layers but two properties of one layer.
The limits are just as clear. A deep cut or gouge that goes through the topcoat into the TPU core will not heal. Where material has physically been removed, rearranging molecules cannot fill the gap. Self-healing applies to fine surface damage.
What separates ARC SHIELD from ARC ULTRA is, in the end, a single mil of thickness. As a number it is small; on the installation floor it is a completely different story. The thicker the film, the more force it takes to pull it around a compound curve, and the greater the stress pulling it back. If the material's elongation and recovery cannot keep up, you are left with lifting and stress marks at bumper corners and along fender curves.
Which is why a thick PPF is not simply a matter of making any film thicker. It only works with a TPU compound that holds on to conformability and clarity as the thickness increases, and with an installer able to handle that difficulty: only when material quality and installation skill are top-tier at the same time.
